Anna's Band Life in her Words : ' Due to growing up in a Brass Band family I started playing at an early age. I taught myself to                                                      play the Cornet with a little bit of guidance from my dad!! It wasn't untill the age of 11 that I                                                      joined the Kernow Band on 3rd Cornet. However, I had to play Percussion for my First                                                      Contest, which was the Area Contest in the Colston Hall, Bristol. After that, I rejoined the                                                      Cornet Section and stayed on 3rd Cornet untill 1994 when I moved onto Flugel. In 1996 I                                                      joined the St. Austell Youth Band and have remained a member ever since!(even though I'm                                                      too old to play for Contests!!!) Whilst Jane Whitehead conducted the Band I assisted her                                                      with the teaching of the Beginners on Saturday Mornings, a task that i enjoyed greatly. In                                                      1997 I moved back to the Cornet and joined the Front Row. I managed to get up to Second                                                      Man Down but never quite managed to push my Dad out oh the Principal chair!! I have been                                                      very lucky to keep my position in the Band since for the past 3yrs I have been studying in                                                      Oxford. Last year I moved onto Tenor Horn and I really enjoyed playing the instrument,                                                      however in 2002 you never know what instrument I'll be playing!!!
