Alan's Band Life in his Words : I started playing in 1948 in Essex then went to Aveley in 1950, then onto Hanwell in 1962                                                  where we won Radio Challenge Brass and 4th at Royal Albert Hall. We moved from Essex to                                                  Cornwall in 1972. I joined Bodmin Band and then Camborne and also got 4th in the Royal                                                  Albert Hall. I joined Kernow in 1989, we practised at St. Austell Band Room and they took us                                                  over in 1999.

                                               I have a Wife, Joan, and three sons. My oldest is Paul, he plays Bass Trombone with Jag                                                  Mount Charles. Our other son, David, is the Soprano player for St. Pinnick. Our younger sone                                                  Gary, gave up to give us Two Grand children.
